This table gives us information about two strong winds, hurricanes and tornadoes. Both are dangerous and destructive but there are many important differences between them.
Firstly, the minimum speed of a hurricane is 74 mph, whereas that of a tornado is 40 mph. On the other hand, the maximum speed of a tornado, 250-300 mph, is higher than that of a hurricane, 155-200 mph. The hurricane is classified on the Saffir-Simpson C1-5 scale, while the tornado is measured on the Fujita F0-F5 scale. Whereas a tornado usually lasts from a few minutes to a few hours, a hurricane can last up to a week. A hurricane can be predicted 2-3 days in advance for a wide area and 6-10 hours beforehand for a locality, but a tornado can be predicted only minutes before it hits. Hurricanes start over warm oceans, while tornadoes usually originate over land.
In brief, tornadoes are less predictable, last for a shorter period of time and can reach much higher wind speeds.

People at college
A professor is a teacher of the highest rank in a university.
I used to be a lecturer in a college of education.
Hedley is our English teacher.
We are all students at ADMC.
Lorraine used to be our supervisor but Roger is now.
A careers advisor/counsellor will help students to choose a job.
Dr Simon Jones is the ADMC Director.
Librarians used to concern themselves mostly with books but
nowadays libraries are multi-media centres.
Tutors give tutorials which are lessons for individuals or small
groups.

There were grey clouds in the sky and it looked like it was going to rain.
Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet and so are you.
Orange juice is full of vitamin C.
Egg yolks and lemons are yellow.

Around the college
We are all students at Abu Dhabi Men's College.
We have to be in the classroom on time.
Physics and chemistry lessons take place in a laboratory.
There are no healthy food outlets in our canteen/cafeteria.
I read books and magazines and also do IELTS practice in our college
library, which is large and well-stocked.
Student services organise activities for us.
The academic office performs many administrative tasks, such as
issuing ID cards and arranging exam schedules.
There is a special learning centre in our library, called the Active
Learning Zone, to provide students with extra help with their English.
Conferences and large meetings are often held in the college
auditorium, which is also where we do our progress tests.

The UK government
The UK government’s budget in 1996 was £ 315 billion. This chart shows what the government spent the money on, divided into ten categories.
The government spent most money, by far, on social security, £100 billion. This was almost twice as much as the next category, health which cost £53 billion. Also, we can figure that the expenditure of these two combined accounted for almost a half of the UK budget in 1996. Next came education with £38 billion which is considered good budget for improving society. The government spent more than £20 billion of the budget on the following: debt interest, other expenditure and defence. The final three categories were less than £20 billion: law and order, housing heritage and environment, industry, agriculture and employment.
The outstanding feature of the pie chart is the social security and health accounted for almost half of the UK government’s budget in 1996. In fact social security cost almost as much as health, education and defence combined.

Types of Cars
There are many types of car in the world. In this essay I will write about four types, which are the Toyota Corolla, the Volkswagen Golf ,the Ford Focus and the Nissan Micra.
First I will talk about the Corolla. The Corolla is not expensive; it costs $15,550 and is made in Japan. The engine size is 1400cc and it does 48 miles per gallon .Second is the Volkswagen Golf. It costs $18,250 and it's made in Germany .The engine size is 1600cc and it does 40 miles per gallon .The third car is the Ford Focus. It costs $15,800 and is made in the USA . The Ford Focus engine size is 1400cc and it does 50 miles per gallon .The last car is the Nissan Micra .It costs $15,500 and it is made in Japan .The Micra engine size is 1200cc and it does 52 miles per gallon.
In summary, we find that the Volkswagen Golf is th most expensive of the four cars and it has the biggest engine size .On the other hand the cheapest car is the Nissan Micra and it has the smallest engine size.

Top Date-producing countries
Dates nowadays are grown in many places . There are many countries farming dates. In this essay I'm going to talk about the top producers around the world.
The top producer is Egypt. The annual production in Egypt is 1,100,000 tonnes . Iran comes after Egypt in the annual production with 900,000 tonnes. Then the UAE and Saudi Arabia which are close in the annual production .The UAE anny has 700,000 tonnes. On the other hand Saudi Arabia has 680,000 tonnes. So the difference between the two countries is about 20,000 tonnes of dates. Now let us see the two lowest countries from the top ten countries Libya and Sudan .Sudan has annually 190,000 tonnes while Libya produces 150,000 tonnes.
In summary date prodution was most abundant in Egypt and Iran. On the other hand the countries with the smallest output were Sudan and Libya.
